Texas Instruments (TI) officially opened a new product research and development center in Bengaluru on February 7, 2026, coinciding with the company's 40-year presence in India, which began with the establishment of its first R&D center in the country in 1985.
The facility spans 550,000 square feet and includes collaborative workspaces for chip design, an end-to-end reliability lab with advanced testing equipment for different environmental conditions, and multiple integrated circuit design labs.
The inauguration was led by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, together with TI leaders.
In his remarks, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw congratulated TI on the new center, noting that the company has played a pioneering role in India's semiconductor sector and has consistently supported the design talent ecosystem. He stated that TI's investment strengthens India's status as a global hub for semiconductor design and development, aligning with the goal of building an innovation-driven nation.
Santhosh Kumar, president and managing director of TI India, described the opening as a milestone that reflects the company's legacy and future commitment. He said TI India's product development and design teams conduct research and create innovations for global customers, with its engineers driving advancements in next-generation semiconductors.
TI remains the first multinational to have set up an R&D center in India in 1985 and has contributed to the country's semiconductor landscape over four decades. The company employs thousands in India and continues regional expansion, including the recent opening of an additional sales office to support local customers.
The new center supports TI's focus on analog and embedded processing technologies, semiconductor innovation, and engagement with India's design ecosystem and expanding customer base. TI's India operations develop solutions for industries and applications worldwide.
