Nexperia Supply Chain Crisis 2025: China Export Controls and Dutch Intervention Disrupt Global Discrete Chip Flow
Nexperia, the Dutch-based manufacturer of discrete semiconductors and a wholly-owned subsidiary of China’s Wingtech Technology, continues to face severe supply chain restrictions that began in October 2025, according to official company statements and verified industry reports.
The disruption originated after Wingtech was added to the U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security Entity List in December 2024. A subsequent U.S. affiliate rule, introduced in June 2025, extended export restrictions to companies majority-owned by listed entities, directly affecting Nexperia. On 30 September 2025, the Dutch government invoked the Goods Availability Act and assumed temporary control of strategic decisions at Nexperia to prevent technology transfer and asset relocation.
On 4 October 2025, Chinese authorities imposed export controls that halted shipments of Nexperia products from its facilities in China. The company’s Dongguan plant, which handles packaging and testing for approximately 70 % of Nexperia’s global output, stopped receiving wafers from European fabs after payment disputes and governance disagreements arose between the Dutch headquarters and the Chinese operating entities.
