Texas Instruments Expands Semiconductor Supply Chain with New Assembly Factory in Malaysia's Tech Hub
Texas Instruments (TI) opened its second assembly and test factory in Melaka, Malaysia, designated as TIEM2. The facility, which connects to the company's existing site, will assemble and test billions of analog and embedded chips annually for use in electronic systems including vehicles, smartphones, and data centers.

Combined with the adjacent existing factory, the facilities total over 1.4 million square feet of manufacturing space dedicated to transforming processed semiconductor wafers into finished chips. The expansion represents a potential investment of up to MYR 5 billion and will support up to 500 local jobs when fully operational.
This development aligns with TI's strategy to internalize 90% of its assembly and test operations by 2030, enhancing control over manufacturing processes and supply chain capacity to meet customer requirements.
Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf Yusoh, chief minister of Melaka, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony along with other local dignitaries for a site tour. He stated: “Texas Instruments’ investment in Melaka is a strong endorsement of our state’s potential.
