Dr. Omkaram “Om” Nalamasu, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Applied Materials, Inc., has been named the recipient of the 2026 ACS Award in Industrial Chemistry, sponsored by the ACS Division of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry. This prestigious award, presented by the American Chemical Society, celebrates outstanding contributions to industrial chemistry, recognizing Nalamasu’s transformative impact on materials science and semiconductor technology.
Nalamasu’s pioneering work has driven advancements in optical lithography, polymeric materials, and nanotechnology, shaping the microelectronics and display industries. With over 120 patents and 180 publications, his researcg work spans nanomanufacturing, nanopatterning, electronic and photonic materials, and lithography, with special emphasis on applying patterning and materials expertise for device fabrication for electronics, photonics and energy applications.
The ACS will honor Nalamasu and other winners at a ceremony during the ACS Spring 2026 meeting in Atlanta on March 24, 2026. His recognition underscores the critical role of materials engineering in advancing industrial chemistry and powering the technologies of tomorrow.
