Qualcomm announced the acquisition of MovianAI, the generative AI division of VinAI Application and Research JSC, a part of the Vingroup ecosystem. This strategic acquisition is set to significantly enhance Qualcomm’s generative AI research and development capabilities, accelerating the creation of advanced AI solutions for a wide range of products, including smartphones, PCs, and software-defined vehicles.
The acquisition of MovianAI underscores Qualcomm’s commitment to being at the forefront of AI innovation. By integrating VinAI’s advanced generative AI research and development capabilities with Qualcomm's extensive R&D expertise, the company aims to drive extraordinary inventions that will benefit various industries and consumers.
Dr. Hung Bui, founder and CEO of VinAI, will join Qualcomm as part of this acquisition. Dr. Bui, formerly of Google DeepMind, brings a wealth of expertise in AI, machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing. His leadership will be instrumental in advancing Qualcomm’s mission to make breakthroughs in fundamental AI research and scale them across industries.
