India's first commercial semiconductor chip facilities racing to make chips as early as 2025

 Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw has been telling the audience and the press he is addressing recently (in the month of March 2025), that the first made in India chip is expected to be fabricated by the end of this year.

India's first commercial chip foundry Tata Electronics in partnership with PSMC, Taiwan working hard to bring the fab up in record time in Dholera Gujarat. Initially the fab to make chips in 28nm node and later progress to FinFET based nodes such as 14nm.

Tata Electronics has already working closely with semiconductor design companies in India and elsewhere in helping them provide necessary design support such as Silicon IP support, PDKs and such foundry related support.

Indian OSAT facilities which are also called chip factories are progressing well with some of the companies such as Kaynes and CG Semi have started pilot production lines by end of year 2025.
