Market researcher Canalys' latest report finds a significant decline in global tablet shipments, marking an 11% year-on-year decrease in Q4 2023, totaling 37.8 million units. This downward trend persisted throughout the year, with full-year 2023 figures indicating a 10% decrease compared to 2022, totaling 135.3 million tablets shipped worldwide. Despite this overall decline, China and India emerged as pivotal markets driving tablet adoption, counteracting stagnation observed in other regions.

In the fourth quarter of 2023, the tablet market see notable growth performances from Chinese vendors, contributing to the sector's resilience. Huawei experienced remarkable shipment growth of 95%, propelling it to the third position in the rankings. Meanwhile, despite a 24% year-on-year decline, Apple retained its leading position, shipping 14.8 million iPads during the quarter. Samsung secured second place with 6.8 million units shipped, marking an 11% annual decrease in shipments. Lenovo, while dropping to fourth place, showcased healthy shipment growth of 15%, gaining over 2 points of market share year-on-year. Finally, Amazon rounded out the top five, despite a 44% annual decline, shipping 2 million tablets globally.
