TrendForce forecasts global OLED notebook shipments will grow more than 40% year over year in 2027, following Apple's new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display. The model is the first in the MacBook lineup to feature a tandem OLED touchscreen.
OLED notebook sales have so far been driven primarily by Windows-based brands including Lenovo, HP, and ASUS, which have expanded their offerings across price segments. TrendForce expects Apple's entry to encourage brands to prioritize OLED models and strengthen consumer acceptance of the technology. The overall notebook market is anticipated to contract for a second consecutive year, while OLED notebook shipments are forecast to grow nearly 40% year over year in 2026.

TrendForce estimates shipments of the new MacBook Pro will reach 1.2–1.5 million units in 2027. The 14-inch model has a starting price of US$2,899, and its initial availability alongside existing Mini-LED models could temper near-term replacement demand.
Samsung Display is currently the exclusive panel supplier for the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display. It has designated Phase 1 of its G8.6 A6 production line at its Asan campus in South Korea as a dedicated facility for Apple. The MacBook Pro is the first product to enter mass production on Samsung Display's G8.6 fine metal mask (FMM) OLED line.
The display's tandem OLED architecture and pixel density of 254 pixels per inch (PPI) set demanding production requirements, including challenges related to material costs and manufacturing yields. Although other panel makers are conducting qualification programs, LG Display, BOE, and TCL CSOT are largely pursuing supply-chain positions for the OLED MacBook Air, which is expected to debut in 2029.
