Infineon Opens Backend Manufacturing Site in Bangkok, Thailand

Infineon Technologies AG inaugurated its new backend manufacturing site in Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Thailand, on 1 October 2026. The ceremony included Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand, and Alexander Gorski, Chief Operations Officer of Infineon Technologies.

The site forms part of Infineon’s global manufacturing network and adds production capacity. It is designed for phased expansion and can scale to five modules, with the potential to become one of the company’s largest backend manufacturing sites. Construction began as a greenfield facility and currently centers on Module A.

The site employs around 350 people and is projected to reach approximately 1,000 employees as Module A ramps up. Infineon also collaborates with universities, educational institutions and industry partners on talent development.

The facility includes advanced cleanroom, assembly and test capabilities with a high level of automation. It covers the full range of semiconductor backend processes as well as wafer test. Production supports applications in the automotive, industrial and energy infrastructure sectors.

The Bangkok site operates on 100 percent green electricity. It incorporates water recycling and rainwater collection systems and is equipped with solar modules that generate renewable energy on site.

Thailand’s national technology strategy and existing semiconductor manufacturing base, along with its location in Southeast Asia, form the context for the investment. The site builds on local expertise, partnerships and workforce skills.

Alexander Gorski stated that the Bangkok location combines access to a regional ecosystem with logistics connections and provides scalability through its modular design. Anutin Charnvirakul described the project as contributing to Thailand’s semiconductor ecosystem and creating skilled jobs.
