Keysight Technologies, announced an agreement with the Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU) to make its electronic design automation (EDA) software and training available to semiconductor startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the European Chips Design Platform (EuroCDP).
License costs, computing resources, and contract negotiations have historically kept EDA software beyond the reach of early-stage European design teams. Keysight’s EDA software is now part of the EuroCDP portfolio. The cloud-based platform provides design tools to European companies under the European Chips Act.
Keysight solutions covered by the agreement include radio-frequency and microwave circuit design, electromagnetic and harmonic balance simulation, high-speed digital design and device modeling, with models correlated against measurement data. The agreement also includes training and design data management, which handles version control and IP reuse.
Romano Hoofman, General Manager of EuroCDP, said: “Europe has the ambition to increase its share in the global semiconductor value chain, and that depends on companies being able to design here. EuroCDP is a key initiative lowering the entry barrier for new fabless companies. Adding Keysight to the EuroCDP portfolio is a great asset for those companies and it will derisk and accelerate their journey to the market.”
