Anderon, IBM's Quantum Wafer Foundry, Secures $1 Billion CHIPS Award

Anderon LLC, an IBM company, has finalized a $1 billion award under the CHIPS and Science Act with the U.S. Department of Commerce. The award will accelerate Anderon’s research and development efforts to advance the nation’s quantum wafer manufacturing capabilities.

The agreement follows a letter of intent announced in May between the Department of Commerce and IBM. Anderon operates a 300-millimeter pure-play quantum wafer foundry headquartered in Albany, New York. The venture is backed by an additional $1 billion investment from IBM and serves the quantum industry as a pure-play foundry that offers quantum wafer manufacturing to customers across the ecosystem.

Mukesh Khare, CEO of Anderon, stated: “This agreement with the Department of Commerce strengthens our ability to deliver the manufacturing scale the quantum industry needs. We’re building a foundation that will let quantum move from research breakthroughs to real-world impact.”
