Altera says these PQC-ready FPGAs are built to accommodate further security updates at the software and firmware level as post-quantum needs continue to develop, letting customers keep up with shifting compliance and security demands while getting more long-term value from their hardware.
Mike Fitton, Altera's VP of product and corporate marketing, noted that companies building systems meant to last need assurance that their hardware choices now can grow to meet future security demands, and that these PQC-capable Agilex chips offer a base that can be deployed now and adapted later as post-quantum standards and threats develop.
Because Agilex 3 and Agilex 5 chips are reprogrammable, customers can extend how long their products stay useful, adapting designs as security needs, workloads, interfaces, and standards shift. This gives a flexible, scalable option across many embedded and edge use cases by balancing strong performance with energy efficiency.
PQC-capable Agilex 3 and Agilex 5 chips are available for purchase now. Quartus Prime Pro Edition 26.1.1 includes a PQC software workflow that makes it easier for customers to add post-quantum protections.
