Qualcomm Technologies announced the Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform at Augmented World Expo. The platform is designed for immersive spatial computing experiences with on-device AI and is intended for high-performance all-in-one video-see-through (VST) headsets and lightweight tethered optical-see-through (OST) devices.

The Snapdragon Reality Elite features up to 48 TOPS of AI processing and supports running large vision models (LVMs) and large language models (LLMs) on-device. It enables generative XR experiences such as photorealistic avatars with Gaussian Splatting, LLM-based agents, and real-time LVM-driven object generation. The platform also enhances head and hand tracking and see-through features.

It delivers up to 60% higher GPU performance, up to 30% increase in CPU performance, and up to 160% higher NPU performance compared to prior generations. The platform supports visuals up to 4.4K per eye at 90 frames per second. Video see-through enhancements reduce latency and improve image quality. It includes the EVA block for hardware acceleration of computer vision workloads.

Power efficiency improvements provide up to 20% longer battery life at the same workload and up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler operation under load. These gains are intended to support sleeker, lighter, and more comfortable devices for extended use.

The platform will power the latest Android XR devices, first appearing in XREAL Project Aura and Play for Dream’s upcoming device, with additional products expected later.

“XR adoption continues to expand, with more than 60 million devices already in market and growing momentum across industries,” said Ziad Asghar, Senior Vice President and General Manager of XR, Wearables and Personal AI. “Snapdragon Reality Elite is designed to meet those demands with powerful on-device AI, enabling faster, longer-lasting, and more immersive experiences.”

“XREAL Project Aura represents a new benchmark for optical see-through XR glasses, bringing powerful AI-driven experiences to both work and everyday life,” said Chi Xu, Co-founder and CEO of XREAL. “Snapdragon Reality Elite is a foundational part of this achievement.”

“Play for Dream is excited to adopt Snapdragon Reality Elite for our next generation of immersive devices,” said Huang Feng, Founder of Play For Dream.

The Snapdragon Reality Elite is positioned to support the XR ecosystem, including Android XR.
