Analog Devices, announced that A²B 2.0 (ADAA245x series) is now fully released to production. The technology supports OEM and Tier 1 program ramps. A²B 2.0 delivers a 4× bandwidth increase while preserving deterministic, low-latency (62 μs) performance and architectural simplicity. It is designed for the software-defined vehicle and supports Ethernet data tunneling via the Open Alliance SPI (OASPI) interface. The system maintains compatibility with A²B 1.0 cables and connectors, enabling up to 30% system cost reduction.

The release builds on A²B technology, which over the past decade has seen broad adoption in the automotive industry with hundreds of millions of nodes on the road from over 35 automotive manufacturers. A²B was designed for applications requiring low and deterministic latency, such as road-noise cancellation and in-car communications. Its single main, multiple sub-node daisy-chain architecture reduces wiring complexity and associated costs by up to 75% and features zero software overhead.

As vehicles shift to software-defined architectures, A²B 2.0 provides higher bandwidth and Ethernet integration. It supports up to 98.3 Mbps full duplex, up to 119 upstream and 119 downstream audio channels, and maintains low and deterministic latency. The devices can branch to A²B 1.0 networks, supporting reuse of existing modules.

“Audio is central to how drivers perceive refinement, safety, and responsiveness inside the vehicle, especially as cabins become more software-defined,” said Yasmine King, Corporate Vice President, Head of Automotive Business Unit, ADI. “In this new era, engineers need audio connectivity that integrates cleanly with the broader vehicle network. A²B 2.0 delivers higher bandwidth, low latency and Ethernet tunneling without adding architectural complexity.”

A²B 2.0 is now available in production.
