Torex Semiconductor has developed the XM981A Series, a compact step-down charge pump module with 60V input capability and maximum output current of 6A. The module operates with an input voltage range of 20V to 60V and produces a fixed output voltage at 1/4 of the input voltage. For a 48V input, it generates a 12V intermediate bus directly. This design supports the transition from 12V input systems to 48V input systems without changes to existing 12V configurations or circuits.

The XM981A uses an inductor-less charge pump topology, eliminating inductors found in traditional step-down DC/DC converters. This approach reduces magnetic noise, enables compact and low-profile designs, and achieves high efficiency. At 48V-to-12V conversion with 2.4A output current, efficiency reaches 96.5%, supporting low-loss and low-heat performance. External components are limited primarily to input and output capacitors.

The module supports parallel operation of up to four devices, providing a maximum output current of 24A in a four-parallel setup for scalable current requirements.
It is housed in the LGA-52C01 package measuring 9.5 × 11.5 × 2.1 mm, suited for high-density mounting in industrial equipment, communication systems, and consumer electronics.
