Vishay Intertechnology, introduced four new power inductors in the 0806 (2.0 mm x 1.6 mm x 1.2 mm) and 1210 (3.2 mm x 2.5 mm x 1.2 mm) case sizes. The devices include the commercial-grade IHLL-0806AZ-1Z and IHLL-1210AB-1Z, along with the Automotive Grade IHLP-0806AB-5A and IHLP-1210ABEZ-5A.
These inductors achieve equivalent performance to the next-smallest competing inductors while occupying 64 % smaller footprint in the 0806 size and 11 % smaller in the 1210 size. They provide higher operating temperatures, a wider range of inductance values, and lower direct current resistance (DCR) for improved efficiency. Inductance values range from 0.24 µH to 4.70 µH across the series, with typical DCR as low as 6.6 mΩ.
For the IHLL-0806AZ-1Z and IHLL-1210AB-1Z, terminals are plated on the bottom only, allowing smaller land patterns and more compact board spacing.
For the IHLP-0806AB-5A and IHLP-1210ABEZ-5A, terminals are plated on the bottom and sides, enabling solder fillet formation for added mounting strength against mechanical shock and easier solder joint inspection.
The Automotive Grade devices (IHLP series) are AEC-Q200 qualified and support operation up to +165 °C, which is 10 °C higher than the nearest competing composite inductor, with typical DCR down to 15.0 mΩ.
All four inductors feature a powdered iron body that encapsulates the windings completely, eliminating air gaps and providing magnetic shielding against crosstalk. They exhibit a soft saturation curve for stability across operating temperature and current ranges.
The inductors use a 100 % lead (Pb)-free shielded composite construction that minimizes buzz, and they demonstrate high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, and mechanical shock, while handling transient current spikes without saturation.
The devices are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.
They are designed for DC/DC converters, noise suppression, and filtering applications.
The IHLP-0806AB-5A and IHLP-1210ABEZ-5A target automotive infotainment, navigation, braking systems, ADAS, LiDAR, sensors, and engine control units.
