Toshiba Introduces TC75W71FU High-Speed CMOS Dual Comparator for Industrial Overcurrent Detection

Toshiba launched the TC75W71FU, a CMOS dual comparator with high-speed response and full input/output range (Rail to Rail). The device supports overcurrent detection in industrial equipment. Shipments of the TC75W71FU start today.

Industrial equipment, including motor drives and power circuits, operates with large currents. Sudden overcurrent risks damage to equipment, production shutdowns, and safety issues. Rapid detection and protection are required. Circuits support narrower current and voltage ranges for efficiency and miniaturization, increasing the demand for faster overcurrent detection.

The TC75W71FU provides propagation delay of maximum 45ns (low-to-high) and 30ns (high-to-low) at VDD=3.3V. This compares to the existing TC75W56FU, with typical delays of 550ns (low-to-high) and 250ns (high-to-low) at VDD=3V.

The input/output range operates from GND to Vcc. Minimum supply voltage is 1.8V. The push-pull output configuration uses two transistors to drive high and low levels, supporting fast rise and fall times without an external pull-up resistor.

Applications include industrial equipment such as industrial robots, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), photovoltaic generators, and power supplies, as well as consumer equipment including home applian...
