Littelfuse Launches SZSMF6L Series TVS Diodes for Enhanced Automotive and EV Transient Protection

Littelfuse, has introduced the SZSMF6L Series of unidirectional and bidirectional TVS diodes, designed for high-energy transient protection in automotive and electric vehicle (EV) applications. These 600 W devices, housed in a compact SOD-123FL package, offer 50% higher peak power handling than the 400 W SZSMF4L Series while maintaining the same footprint, according to a Littelfuse announcement.

The SZSMF6L Series provides surge protection and clamping performance to shield automotive systems from voltage spikes caused by switching events, load dumps, or electrostatic discharge (ESD). Key specifications include 600 W peak pulse power (10/1000 µs), a working peak reverse voltage range of 5–75 V for unidirectional and 10–75 V for bidirectional models, a response time under 1 ns, and a high operating temperature up to 175°C. The diodes feature low leakage current, consistent clamping performance via planar chip design, an ESD rating exceeding 16 kV (HBM Class 3), and compliance with AEC-Q101 and PPAP standards.
