xMEMS Labs announced Sycamore-W, a new speaker designed for smart watches, fitness bands, and other wrist-worn wearables. The speaker measures 4.0mm wide, 20.0mm long, and 1.28mm high, with a weight of 150 milligrams. It reduces package volume by 70% compared to traditional coil speakers, which are typically 3 to 4mm thick and weigh up to 3 grams.
The Sycamore-W offers a low-frequency response with a first-order decay (-20dB from 2KHz to 20 Hz) compared to dynamic drivers’ second-order decay (-40dB). It has no phase delay and is built with solid-state durability, featuring IP58-rated protection and 10,000g mechanical shock resistance.
Samples are available to early access customers, with volume production planned for Q2 2026. The original Sycamore µSpeaker will continue to support applications like smart glasses, open-fit earbuds, and laptops, with additional variants for other uses to be announced later in 2025.
