Emerson announced new NI PXI instruments that expand the measurement capabilities of its portfolio of automated test hardware and software. The instruments make its AI-accelerated approach to automated test accessible to more engineering teams.
The new NI PXIe-4086 digital multimeter (DMM) and new variants of the NI PXIe-5160 and NI PXIe-5162 oscilloscopes form part of the NI PXI platform. This software-defined platform delivers precise timing and synchronization and high measurement accuracy across high-channel, mixed-measurement applications in semiconductor, transportation, aerospace and defense, and research. Combined with NI software, including NI InstrumentStudio and NI Nigel AI, the instruments help engineers simplify test setup, accelerate automated test development and scale test systems as requirements evolve. The platform helps engineers develop and automate complex, multi-instrument test systems that meet current needs and adapt for future requirements.
“Our new, entry-level NI PXI instruments are making NI’s AI-accelerated approach to automated test accessible to more engineering teams,” said David Hall, vice president of NI product marketing with Emerson’s test and measurement business. “By combining the industry’s most powerful platform for automated test with software that accelerates test automation, we're helping engineers accelerate product development, solve problems faster and spend more time engineering rather than designing their test systems.”
The new instruments and software capabilities enable engineering teams to build and expand test systems with more cost-effective instrument options:
- The NI PXIe-4086 DMM provides a cost-effective entry point into high accuracy, high-throughput measurements with 6½-digit of resolution and 35 ppm accuracy.
- The NI PXIe-5160 and PXIe-5162 oscilloscopes offer up to 1.5 GHz of bandwidth in 2- or 4-channel configurations with 1 GB onboard memory options for high-bandwidth signal capture and analysis.
They also enable teams to move from hands-on measurement troubleshooting to automation with purpose-built test software:
- NI InstrumentStudio adds new support for the latest PXI instruments and switches, expanding no-code configuration, system bring-up and debugging across multi-instrument systems.
- NI Nigel AI continues advancements of the test-optimized AI to help engineers accelerate the development and debugging of automated tests.
The new offerings build on Emerson's earlier expansion of the NI PXI portfolio. They extend the range of affordable hardware and connection into NI software available to automated test teams. These additions broaden access to automated test by bringing cost-effective instrumentation, integrated software workflows and AI-assisted productivity to a common platform. Engineering teams can start with the capabilities they need today and scale as product complexity, validation demands and automation requirements grow. The modular NI PXI platform enables teams to scale capabilities as test requirements evolve.
