TDK Corporation has launched the TDK SensEI edgeRX Pro, a new high-performance sensor node that expands the company's edgeRX predictive maintenance platform.
The edgeRX Pro combines vibration, acoustic, magnetic, temperature, and rotational motion sensing into a single device, built around an integrated 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) and edge AI processing, all housed in a compact, IP67-rated enclosure, meaning it's sealed against dust and water. Beyond battery operation, the device also supports USB wired power, automatically prioritizing USB power when it's connected, giving users flexibility whether they're evaluating the device or installing it permanently. Built for harsh industrial environments, edgeRX Pro is designed to support long-term monitoring with up to 10 years of battery life.
Sundeep Ahluwalia, chief product officer at TDK SensEI, said edgeRX Pro gives customers greater flexibility in how they deploy predictive maintenance at scale. He said adding acoustic and magnetometer sensing lets edgeRX Pro address a wider range of predictive maintenance use cases, while support for wired power enables higher sampling rates and more capable AI models, and up to 10 years of battery life supports scalable, low-maintenance deployments across industrial settings.
The new sensor builds on the existing edgeRX platform with higher sampling frequencies, more capable on-device data analysis, and additional sensing inputs, including the 6-axis IMU, a magnetometer, and a digital microphone, aimed at detecting subtler anomalies and providing deeper insight for predictive maintenance. By adding acoustic and magnetic sensing to the platform, edgeRX Pro extends into a broader set of industrial applications, including detecting compressed air leaks, identifying acoustic anomalies, analyzing rotational alignment, detecting oil and gas leaks, and identifying anomalies in rail components and bearings, giving a more complete picture of overall asset health and performance.
TDK positions the edgeRX Pro for use across manufacturing (including lithium battery production, semiconductors, precision machining, and iron and steel), energy and utilities (electric power, natural gas, and oil and gas), HVAC and smart buildings, and warehousing and industrial facilities.
