Vishay Introduces TSOP15300 Series IR Receivers Supporting All Major Remote Control Codes
Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new series of infrared (IR) receiver modules, the TSOP15300 series, designed to work as a single-component universal remote control solution. Unlike standard IR receivers, which are typically tuned to a single frequency and can only recognize the specific remote control codes designed around that frequency, the TSOP15300 series accepts a wide modulation frequency range, from 30 kHz to 68 kHz, letting it receive and interpret virtually all major remote control code formats on the market today.
This matters because devices tuned to a single frequency generally require multiple separate receivers to cover different remote control code sets, adding cost and taking up extra board space. By covering a broad frequency range in one component, the TSOP15300 series lets designers use a single receiver instead, cutting down on component count, system cost, and PCB space.
The series is aimed at consumer electronics such as televisions, audio systems, gaming consoles, soundbars, set-top boxes, and video projectors. It's built to resist interference from common noise sources, including infrared emissions given off by CFL lamps and LCD televisions, as well as radio-frequency interference from onboard Wi-Fi antennas. When paired with a 50 mA IR emitter, the receivers can reliably pick up sign...
