Bourns Launches Compact LTCC Diplexer for Dual-Band GNSS Signal Separation

Bourns has introduced the FDP2009N122157H4, an LTCC diplexer designed to help separate and process GNSS L-band signals in compact RF front-end designs where signal isolation, low signal loss, and small size all matter. A diplexer is a component that splits or combines signals of different frequencies onto a shared path, and this one is built using LTCC construction, meaning it integrates inductive and capacitive elements, the building blocks of a filter circuit, directly into a multilayer ceramic structure rather than assembling them from separate discrete parts. That reduces the parasitic effects, unwanted electrical interference between components, that typically come from wiring discrete filter components together, helping keep RF performance consistent across frequency bands.

The need for this comes from how GNSS receivers work: they have to separate and recombine multiple L-band satellite signals while preserving signal quality, all while running on relatively low power. Traditional filter designs built from individual discrete components tend to be sensitive to how they're laid out on a board, and that layout sensitivity can degrade signal isolation and increase signal loss, especially as designs get more compact.
