Ashish: Welcome back, everyone, to the EEHerald recap for the week! I'm Ashish, one of your US Editors.

Art: And I'm Art, co-hosting from the US desk. Grab a coffee, settle in, and get ready for a trip around the world. We like to keep things easy-going on this show, but if there's one thing we've learned covering electronics, it's that you really can't understand the tech without understanding the map. Our industry is fundamentally a story of geography.

Ashish: That is completely true, Art. You trace the journey of a single microchip, and you've basically mapped a globe-trotting expedition. And speaking of mapping the globe, our first story today brings us right to our own backyard here in California, specifically to Cupertino and the broader Santa Clara Valley. It was just announced that Apple Executive Chair Tim Cook is going to receive the Semiconductor Industry's top honor.

Art: That’s right, the prestigious Robert N. Noyce Award! He is set to accept this at the Semiconductor Industry Association Awards Dinner happening on November 19th. It's fascinating when you think about the geographic roots of this award. Robert Noyce co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor and Intel right down the road from where Apple is headquartered today. It is literally the soil that grew Silicon Valley.

Ashish: Exactly. And while Apple is renowned globally, its hardware ecosystem still pulses outward from that specific region in California. Tim Cook being recognized with this 2026 award really underscores how the lines between consumer tech giants and pure, foundational semiconductor engineering have completely blurred.
