AMD released the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition processor. It is the first desktop processor to feature dual AMD 3D V-Cache technology. The processor is built on “Zen 5” architecture with 16 cores, 32 threads, and 208MB of total cache. It has a boost frequency of up to 5.6 GHz, base frequency of 4.3 GHz, and 200W TDP. The suggested end-user price is $899.
The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 incorporates dual 2nd Gen AMD 3D V-Cache technology across all 16 cores. The second-generation technology positions the stacked cache beneath the processor cores. It is designed for developers, creators, and gamers, targeting demanding workloads with expanded cache capacity, lower latency, and increased throughput.
This follows earlier AMD X3D processors: the Ryzen 7 5800X3D in 2022 as the first with AMD 3D V-Cache technology, and the Ryzen 9 7950X3D as the first 16-core version.

The processor is engineered for complex compile times, large-scale simulations, and memory-intensive workflows. Compared to the previous generation, it shows average uplifts of 5% to 8% in creator workloads including DaVinci Resolve and Blender, and in source code builds including Unreal Engine and Chromium.
Alienware is offering the processor in the Area-51 Desktop. “Alienware is the first to bring the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition to market, and the Area-51 is the platform we built to make the most of it — combining AMD's dual 3D V-Cache architecture with Alienware's thermal engineering,” said Matt McGowan, Head of Product, Alienware.
The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition processor is available today from leading retailers and in prebuilt systems including the Alienware Area-51 Desktop.
