Octopart Introduces Discover Platform for Context-Driven Solutions Discovery in Electronics Design

Octopart introduced Octopart Discover, described as the next evolution of Octopart that incorporates design intent and persistent system context into solutions discovery, shifting from part search to discovering and evaluating system-fit solutions. Octopart Discover is showcased at Booth 3A-415 during embedded world.

The platform is built as an open solution that integrates solution intelligence from partners across the electronics ecosystem, aligned to the engineer's current project. Engineers start with system intent functional blocks, constraints, and requirements to narrow options to viable fits.

Don Cantow, General Manager of Altium, stated that a part number is the endpoint rather than the starting point, and Octopart Discover maintains connected intent and context to allow engineers to explore system options and converge faster. For partners, it provides in-context presence during block shaping, trade-off evaluation, and option narrowing.

Engineers define the system and align discovery to real design requirements rather than isolated keywords. Options narrow to fit the architecture, with prior decisions and constraints carried forward. Context is retained during search, comparison, and refinement, keeping results aligned to earlier choices. Adjustments can be made when requirements change without restarting the process.
