GigaDevice Launches GD32M531 Series Arm Cortex-M33 MCUs for Dual Motor and PFC Control

GigaDevice announced the launch of the GD32M531 series 32-bit microcontrollers tailored for motor control applications. The series is powered by the Arm Cortex-M33 core and integrates dedicated hardware accelerators for motor control along with highly integrated peripheral resources.

The GD32M531 series supports accurate control of dual motors plus PFC, providing a solution for home appliance scenarios including air conditioner outdoor units, air source heat pumps, washing machines/dryers, dishwashers, and multi-burner induction cookers. Samples and development boards are available now, with mass production and supply scheduled to start in April.

The series features built-in hardware accelerators for trigonometric functions and Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) optimized for FOC algorithms. This reduces CPU workload, improves efficiency of sensorless FOC algorithms, enhances motor speed control precision, lowers operating noise, and improves energy efficiency.

It includes 2 channels of enhanced AD-Timers supporting independent driving of two groups of FOC, with hardware phase-shifted ADC trigger linkage for synchronous and precise current and voltage sampling to eliminate delays from traditional software-triggered systems.

An integrated POC&GTOC (Port Output Controller & General Timer Output Controller) enables filtered overcurre...
