Diodes Incorporated Launches API772x RobustISO Dual-Channel Digital Isolators with 5kVrms and 12.8kV Surge Ratings

Diodes Incorporated  has introduced the API772x series, the first products in its RobustISO family of dual-channel digital isolators. The devices provide isolation for digital signals in applications including industrial automation, new energy power systems, and data center power supplies. The API772x isolators comply with reinforced and basic isolation standards from VDE, UL, and CQC. They deliver a 5,000 VRMS isolation rating for one minute under UL 1577 and an 8,000 VPK isolation rating per DIN EN IEC 60747-17 (VDE 0884-17). The maximum surge isolation voltage reaches 12,800 VPK, with a breakdown voltage exceeding 12 kV, compared to under 10 kV in comparable products.

The devices use a capacitive isolation barrier with a thickness greater than 25 µm. This design, combined with an ON-OFF keying (OOK) modulation scheme for data transfer across the barrier, results in a predicted operational lifetime of over 40 years.

The series supports data rates up to 100 Mbps and accommodates various transmission protocols. It features a minimum common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of 150 kV/µs, along with strong electromagnetic immunity and low emissions to support reliable signal transmission in electrically noisy environments.

The API772x operates across a supply voltage range of 2.5 V to 5.5 V, with typical power consumption of 2.1 mA per channe...
