Qualcomm Secures Automotive Partnerships with Volkswagen Group and Hyundai Mobis at CES 2026
At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Qualcomm Technologies announced two separate agreements in the automotive sector focused on software-defined vehicles (SDV) and related technologies.
Volkswagen Group and Qualcomm Technologies signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for a long-term supply agreement. The deal positions Qualcomm as the primary technology provider for Volkswagen Group's zonal SDV architecture, developed through the joint venture with Rivian Automotive, Inc., known as Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies (RV Tech). Qualcomm will supply high-performance system-on-chips (SoCs) for advanced infotainment capabilities, with implementation starting in 2027.
This builds on an existing collaboration between Qualcomm and the Automated Driving Alliance (ADA), led by CARIAD and Bosch, which focuses on accelerating highly automated driving development using Snapdragon Ride™ Elite for AI-based systems with low latency in sensor processing and decision-making.
The agreement includes integration of Snapdragon® 5G Modem RF and V2X technology in next-generation SDV vehicles for enhanced connectivity. Volkswagen plans to apply the SDV architecture in the Western hemisphere to models such as the ID.EVERY1 and future electric vehicles on the Scalable Systems Platform (SSP).
