Renesas R-Car Gen 5 X5H SoC Samples Available for SDV Multi-Domain Applications
Renesas Electronics is expanding its software-defined vehicle offerings with the fifth-generation R-Car family. The R-Car X5H is a multi-domain automotive system-on-chip manufactured with 3nm process technology. It supports simultaneous operation of functions across advanced driver assistance systems, in-vehicle infotainment, and gateway systems.
Renesas has begun sampling the R-Car X5H silicon. Full evaluation boards and the R-Car Open Access (RoX) Whitebox Software Development Kit are now available.
The R-Car X5H offers up to 35 percent lower power consumption than previous 5nm solutions. It provides up to 400 TOPS of AI performance, with chiplet extensions increasing acceleration by four times or more. The SoC includes 4 TFLOPS equivalent of GPU power and over 1,000k DMIPS from 32 Arm Cortex-A720AE CPU cores and six Cortex-R52 lockstep cores with ASIL D support.
The RoX Whitebox SDK is built on Linux, Android, and XEN hypervisor. Additional support includes AUTOSAR, EB corbos Linux, QNX, Red Hat, and SafeRTOS. The SDK integrates AI and ADAS software stacks from partners including Candera, DSP Concepts, Nullmax, Smart Eye, STRADVISION, and ThunderSoft.
