Renesas Introduces RA6W1 Wi-Fi 6 and RA6W2 Wi-Fi 6/Bluetooth LE Dual-Band MCUs on RA Platform for IoT and Smart Home
Renesas Electronics has released the RA6W1 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 microcontroller and the RA6W2 microcontroller that integrates Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity.
Both devices are built on the Arm Cortex-M33 core operating at 160 MHz with 704 KB SRAM and support 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. They implement Wi-Fi 6 features including Target Wake Time (TWT) and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA).
Power consumption is specified at 200 nA to 4 µA in sleep mode and under 50 µA in DTIM10 mode. The MCUs support “sleepy connected” operation for always-connected IoT applications.
The RA6W1 and RA6W2 can operate standalone or as connectivity add-ons to other Renesas RA family host MCUs. Software development uses the Renesas Flexible Software Package (FSP) and e² studio IDE.
Security features include AES-256 encryption, secure boot, key storage, true random number generator (TRNG), and execute-in-place (XiP) with on-the-fly decryption. The RA6W1 is RED certified and Matter 1.4 certified.
Two module variants are available: RRQ61001 (Wi-Fi 6) and RRQ61051 (Wi-Fi 6/Bluetooth LE). Both modules include antennas and pre-c...
