Diodes Launches Automotive 5.5V 4A I²C-Programmable Synchronous Buck Converter AP61406Q for ADAS, Infotainment and Telematics POL
Diodes has introduced the AP61406Q, an automotive-compliant 5.5 V, 4 A low-IQ synchronous buck converter with I²C interface.
The AP61406Q is designed for automotive point-of-load applications including infotainment systems, instrument clusters, telematics, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
The device incorporates an I²C 3.0-compatible interface that supports SCL clock rates up to 3.4 MHz. Programmable parameters via I²C include operating mode (PFM/PWM), switching frequency (1 MHz, 1.5 MHz, 2 MHz, 2.5 MHz), maximum output current (1 A, 2 A, 3 A, or 4 A), output voltage in 20 mV steps, and fault status reporting.
Input voltage range is 2.3 V to 5.5 V. The converter integrates a 75 mΩ high-side and 33 mΩ low-side MOSFET and uses constant on-time (COT) control. Quiescent current in fixed PFM mode is 20 µA.
The part is housed in a wettable-flank W-QFN1520-8/SWP (Type UX) package. A proprietary gate driver reduces switching-node ringing and high-frequency radiated EMI while maintaining MOSFET switching times.
Protection features include high-side and low-side current sensing for output short-circuit events, VIN overvoltage protection, peak and valley current limiting, undervoltage lockout, and thermal shutdown. A power-good indicator with internal 5 MΩ pull-up and ±5 % comparator window i...
