SEMI Addresses U.S. H-1B Visa Policy Changes Amid Semiconductor Talent Shortages
SEMI, the industry association serving the global electronics design and manufacturing supply chain, issued a statement from SEMI Americas President Joe Stockunas regarding the U.S. H-1B visa policy proclamation announced by President Trump on September 19, 2025.
In the statement, Stockunas noted that SEMI supports the Administration’s strategic and economic security objectives with the new policy on high-skilled H-1B visa workers. SEMI members recognize the Administration’s commitment to securing U.S. leadership in the semiconductor manufacturing value chain and anticipate collaboration to ensure policies address both national security needs and the strengthening of the talent base required for companies.
Stockunas expressed concern over added strain on the industry, which is experiencing significant workforce shortages, and looks forward to convening member companies with the Administration to meet the outlined objectives.
