Panasonic Industry Launches Low-Profile POSCAP Capacitors for USB Type-C Power Delivery
Panasonic Industry announced the commercialization of two Conductive Polymer Tantalum Solid Capacitors (POSCAP), models 50TQT33M and 63TQT22M, designed for power circuits in information and communication equipment like laptops and tablets. These capacitors, with a 3 mm profile—the lowest in the industry for their specifications—support USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) 3.1, enabling high-output power delivery up to 240 W (48 V/5 A) via USB Type-C connectors. Mass production is set to begin in December 2025.
The 50TQT33M and 63TQT22M models offer rated voltages of 50 V and 63 V, respectively, with capacitances of 33 μF and 22 μF. They provide voltage stabilization and noise reduction for USB-PD 3.1-compliant power supplies and address arc discharge issues in USB Type-C connectors. Using proprietary powder molding and film formation technologies, Panasonic Industry achieved high capacitance and ultra-high withstand voltage in a compact package, overcoming challenges in molding high-capacitance tantalum powder and forming uniform dielectric films.
Compared to the industry standard size (7.3 mm × 4.3 mm × 4 mm), these capacitors reduce vol...
