MACOM Technology has taken full operational control of its recently acquired wafer fabrication facility in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The transfer, completed six months ahead of schedule, marks a step in MACOM’s expansion in gallium nitride on silicon carbide (GaN-on-SiC) technology production.
The facility specializes in manufacturing GaN-on-SiC process technologies for RF power devices and monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs), primarily used in telecommunication system infrastructure and defense electronics. It holds accreditation as a United States Department of Defense Trusted Foundry, ensuring its capability to produce components for sensitive defense applications.
Stephen G. Daly, MACOM’s President and Chief Executive Officer, stated that the early transfer allows the company to focus on enhancing the facility’s performance and operational metrics.
