Materion to acquire tantalum manufacturing assets in South Korea

Materion  announced on May 29, 2025, an agreement to acquire manufacturing assets for tantalum solutions from Konasol in Dangjin City, South Korea. The assets include a newly constructed facility with specialized equipment for producing finished tantalum sputtering targets used in semiconductor manufacturing.
The acquisition aims to expand Materion’s presence in Asia to serve semiconductor customers in the region. It increases Materion’s capacity to supply tantalum targets for deposition materials used in advanced semiconductor chips, including those for high-performance computing and artificial intelligence applications.
The transaction requires regulatory approval and is expected to close within 90 days.
