US based industry association IPC supports reintroduction of PCBS act to bolster U.S. PCB manufacturing

US based IPC, an electronics association representing over 1,400 U.S. companies and more than 3,200 globally, has expressed support for the bipartisan reintroduction of the Protecting Circuit Boards and Substrates (PCBS) Act in the 119th Congress. The legislation, led by Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT) and Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), aims to address vulnerabilities in the U.S. electronics supply chain.
The PCBS Act proposes $3 billion in federal investments to support domestic production of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and integrated circuit (IC) substrates. It also includes a 25% tax credit for companies sourcing U.S.-made PCBs and substrates.
John W. Mitchell, IPC President and CEO, stated that the bill targets a gap in U.S. electronics manufacturing, noting that the country lacks sufficient capacity to meet current PCB and substrate demand or future technology needs.
