Intelsat gains India approval for satellite broadcast services

Intelsat, a major operator of satellite and terrestrial networks, has received approval from the Indian government to provide satellite coverage directly to India’s broadcast media companies. The authorization covers four geostationary satellites—IS-17, IS-20, IS-36, and IS-39—offering C-band coverage over India. These satellites will support content delivery and distribution for India’s broadcast media industry, both within the subcontinent and to other regions globally.

Gaurav Kharod, Regional Vice President for Asia Pacific at Intelsat, stated that the approval allows the company to provide connectivity solutions to meet the needs of Indian broadcasters. Following the authorization from the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), Intelsat secured new contracts with three of India’s largest media companies to deliver media content to viewers in India.
