LitePoint and Pegatron 5G begin volume manufacturing of 5G O-RAN radio units
LitePoint, a provider of wireless test solutions, and Pegatron 5G, a company offering 5G product solutions, have announced the start of high-volume manufacturing for 5G O-RAN radio units. This development supports private 5G network deployments, providing coverage for indoor and campus areas. The O-RAN architecture reduces equipment costs and offers data security benefits.
LitePoint’s IQFR1-RU test system supports manufacturing by testing 5G radio units to 3GPP 38.141 standards, covering both wireless (RF) and optical 7.2 O-RAN interfaces. The system replaces complex “golden data units” or slower data unit emulators, streamlining the testing process for large-scale production.
The partnership between LitePoint and Pegatron 5G has focused on testing solutions for network equipment. LitePoint collaborated with Pegatron’s R&D and manufacturing teams to develop a testing process for 5G radio units, utilizing both companies’ experience in cost-effective consumer electronics testing.
Adam Smith, VP of Marketing at LitePoint, stated that the IQFR1-RU test system and automation solutions support Pegatron 5G’s manufacturing while meeting quality and performance standards. David Hoelscher, VP and Chi...
