AI server market to reach US$523 Billion by 2030, driven by workload shifts, reports ABI Research
Hyperscaler capital expenditure is projected to increase in 2025, surpassing 2024 levels, and will support growth in the AI server market despite new trade barriers, according to a May 14, 2025, report by ABI Research. The report forecasts AI server revenues to exceed US$523 billion by the end of the decade. Growth is expected to slow mid-decade due to diminishing returns from frontier generative AI model training, but this will be offset by increased demand for finetuning and agentic AI workloads, which are projected to grow from a small base in 2024 to over US$145 billion by 2030.
Paul Schell, Industry Analyst at ABI Research, notes that as demand for compute infrastructure for frontier training declines, investments will shift toward systems optimized for agentic AI and finetuning workloads. Traditional AI applications, including recommendation models and natural language processing, along with CPU-only AI servers integrated into enterprise software stacks, will continue to contribute to the market.
The rise of GPU-only clouds, such as CoreWeave and Nebius, which incorporate specialized AI platforms, is driving revenue growth for established AI server manufacturers like Dell, Supermicro, IEIT Systems, Cisco, and HPE, as well as niche vendors like Penguin Solutions and AMAX.
Schell adds that the market is shifting toward monetizing AI investments in large multimod...
