Atomera Expands Collaboration with Synopsys on GaN Device Modeling for RF and Power Applications

Atomera announced an expanded collaboration with Synopsys, Inc. to advance gallium nitride (GaN) device modeling for radio frequency (RF) and power semiconductor applications. The work builds on the companies’ existing relationship centered on Synopsys’ Sentaurus™ TCAD and Atomera’s MSTcad™ toolset. It extends the collaboration into GaN workflows to support GaN solutions for the market.

Under the expanded collaboration, Atomera will use Synopsys’ Sentaurus TCAD tools to develop a GaN calibration methodology for TCAD workflows. Atomera will also create marketing materials and calibrated TCAD decks for GaN devices and provide product feedback to Synopsys.

Synopsys and Atomera have collaborated for years to enable modeling of Atomera’s MST technology within Synopsys’ Sentaurus TCAD environment. The ongoing work supports Atomera’s MSTcad capabilities, allowing customers and partners to evaluate the physical and electrical effects of MST using Synopsys’ process and device simulation tools.

Rahul Deokar, executive director of product management for Manufacturing Solutions at Synopsys, stated: “Synopsys has a strong history of working with innovative semiconductor technology companies to help customers evaluate and integrate new capabilities. Our broadened collaboration with Atomera is focus...
