K C Ang Exit and Tata Semiconductor Fab Delays Reported Amid India Semiconductor Developments

India’s first 28nm semiconductor fab, developed by Tata Electronics in partnership with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (PSMC) in Dholera, Gujarat, is under construction with a planned capacity of 50,000 wafers per month. The ₹91,000 crore project remains on track for first chip production by December 2026, according to a visual and status update shared on the social media platform X by the Gujarat-focused account @gujarat_plus_. Civil construction of the facility is progressing.

Digitimes recently on 20th Feb reported delays in progress at the Tata Electronics plant. Earlier in Nov 2025 Economic Times reported that Tata Electronics has ordered a major redesign of the foundations after assessments showed the Dholera site’s soil conditions require more complex engineering than initially planned. The Economic Times also reported that Tata Electronics has hired experts to redesign the fab to account for these soil conditions. Reports have also noted concerns over rare earth material shortages that could trigger delays in fab completion. Tata Electronics has confirmed the exit of K C Ang from his role as president and head of Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing. Ang stepped down in December 2025, citing personal and family commitments.
