Panasonic Industry Co., Ltd. announced in Tokyo, Japan, an investment of approximately 7.5 billion yen in Panasonic Industrial Devices Materials (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. (Guangzhou Factory) to install an additional production line dedicated to manufacturing MEGTRON multi-layer circuit board materials.
The Guangzhou Factory produces the MEGTRON series, including MEGTRON6 for ICT infrastructure equipment and MEGTRON8 for high-speed transmission in AI servers. The new line will support next-generation AI server materials requiring even higher speed transmission and positions the facility as a key production site for advanced MEGTRON products.
This investment follows Panasonic Industry's September 12, 2025, announcement of a new building and MEGTRON production line at its existing factory in Ayutthaya, Thailand, to serve PCB fabrication customers in Southeast Asia. The Guangzhou expansion targets PCB fabrication customers in China, identified as a major market with strong long-term growth potential.

The new production line is scheduled to begin initial manufacturing operations in April 2027, with mass production planned later in the same fiscal year.
The expansion responds to the rapid growth of generative AI and expanding ICT infrastructure market, including AI servers, switches, and routers. Data processing volumes are forecasted to increase exponentially, driving demand for high-capacity, high-speed communication devices that require low-transmission-loss circuit board materials for stable and efficient signal transmission.
Panasonic Industry leverages proprietary materials and processing technology to achieve industry-leading low-transmission-loss performance in the MEGTRON series. The company plans to double total MEGTRON production capacity over the next five years to support ICT infrastructure growth and AI technology innovation.
The new line at the Guangzhou Factory, located at 18 Lian Yun Rd., East Section of Guangzhou Economic & Technological Development District, P.R. China, will occupy approximately 16,000 m² gross floor area (including shared space with existing lines). It will incorporate automation and digital transformation in manufacturing processes to reduce labor requirements and improve efficiency in response to rising demand in China.
