Karnataka Leads India's Electronics Surge with $4.5 Billion Exports and Robust Policies: Official Address at IESA Vision Summit 2026

Karnataka continues to lead India's electronics and semiconductor ecosystem, contributing significantly to national growth through robust policies, talent development, and infrastructure initiatives, as highlighted by Rahul Sharanappa Sankanur, IAS, Director of the Department of Electronics, IT & Bt, Government of Karnataka, and Managing Director of Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS).

Speaking at the IESA Vision Summit 2026 in Bengaluru, Rahul emphasized the state's pioneering role, noting that Karnataka pioneered the first Global Capability Centre (GCC) in the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) field as early as 1995. The state is recognized as a frontrunner in innovation, IT, R&D, and manufacturing, described as the most innovative state in the country.

Key highlights from his address include:

- The state ranks among the top exporters of electronics, with current exports valued at around $4.5 billion, placing it third nationally.
- It hosts more than 500 R&D centers and 100 chip design centers, with major global players such as AMD, Texas Instruments, Intel, and Samsung establishing significant operations.
- Diverse industries thrive in the state, including automobile manufacturing, medical devices, aerospace, defense, consumer electronics, and semiconductors.
