Indian Clean Energy Startup Advances Green Hydrogen Production with Innovative Electrolyzer Tech

|

Clean hydrogen, particularly green hydrogen produced via renewable-powered electrolysis, is vital for decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors where electrification falls short. It enables emission-free alternatives in refineries (desulphurization and hydrogenation), fertilizer production (ammonia synthesis), steel manufacturing (direct iron ore reduction), heavy transport, shipping, aviation fuels (e.g., sustainable aviation fuel and methanol), and high-heat industries like cement. By replacing fossil-based "grey" hydrogen, it slashes CO₂ emissions, supports energy security, and drives sustainable industrial transformation toward net-zero goals.

On-site generation of clean ultra-high purity (UHP) gases, including hydrogen, is crucial for semiconductor manufacturing. It ensures consistent 99.999%+ purity levels essential for processes like annealing, epitaxy, deposition, and chamber cleaning, where even trace impurities can cause wafer defects and yield losses. By producing gases directly at the fab, it eliminates supply chain risks, reduces contamination from transport, lowers costs, enhances reliability with redundant systems, and supports decarbonization through efficient, low-emission methods like electrolysis, vital amid rising chip complexity and demand.
