Tesla Korea Initiates Recruitment Drive for AI Chip Design Engineers Targeting Highest-Volume Production

Tesla Korea posted openings for AI Chip Design Engineers. The company stated it is seeking talented individuals to develop mass-produced AI chips described as achieving the world's highest production volume in the future. The project focuses on AI chip architecture for high-volume output, extending beyond low-volume specialized chips.

Musk posted on X: "If you are in Korea and want to work in chip design, manufacturing, or software, join Tesla". The recruitment targets South Korea's semiconductor expertise, including areas like memory semiconductors, high-bandwidth memory, silicon design, lithography, and advanced packaging. South Korea hosts major players such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, and Tesla has previously collaborated with Samsung as a foundry partner for earlier Full Self-Driving (FSD) chips.

Analysts view the move as part of Tesla's efforts to expand its in-house semiconductor capabilities for AI hardware, supporting autonomous driving and the Optimus humanoid robot.

In related comments on X around the same period, Musk outlined Tesla's AI chip roadmap. He stated the AI5 chip design is almost complete, with AI6 in early stages, and plans for AI7, AI8, and AI9. Tesla aims for a nine-month design cycle for forthcoming AI chips, shorter than the annual cadence used by competitors like Nvidia and AMD.

Musk noted that progress on AI5...
