Rapidus Announces AI-Agentic Design Tools for 2nm Semiconductor Process Starting 2026
Deep node focused new Japanese semiconductor foundry Rapidus Corporation has announced a suite of AI design tools under its Rapidus AI-Assisted Design Solution (Raads), supporting the company's Rapid and Unified Manufacturing Service (RUMS) concept. The approach is being rebranded as Rapidus AI-Agentic Design Solution, with tools scheduled for release starting in 2026. These tools will be provided to customers along with a process design kit and reference flows.
The initial tools include:
- Raads Generator: An electronic design automation (EDA) tool using large-scale language models (LLMs). It generates register-transfer level (RTL) design data optimized for Rapidus' 2nm manufacturing process from input semiconductor specifications.
- Raads Predictor: A tool for RTL debugging and optimization in physical design, placement, and routing. It provides power performance area (PPA) estimates in a short time.
Designers can generate RTL source code with Raads Generator based on design ideas and specifications, then input the data into Raads Predictor with Synopsys Design Constraints (SDC) to predict PPA for silicon produced by Rapidus.
Raads is designed to function as an AI agent for semiconductor device design. When used with existing EDA tools, it enables a 50% reduction in design time and a 30% reduction in design costs.
