India Approves ₹5,532 Crore Electronics Component Projects Under ECMS Amid 249 Applications
The Government of India has approved the first batch of seven projects under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), involving an investment of ₹5,532 crore. These projects are expected to generate production worth ₹36,559 crore and create over 5,100 direct jobs. The approved units are located in Tamil Nadu (five units), Andhra Pradesh (one unit), and Madhya Pradesh (one unit).
Union Minister of Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced the approvals. The facilities will produce High-Density Interconnect (HDI) PCBs, Multi-Layer PCBs, Camera Modules, Copper Clad Laminates, and Polypropylene Films. These components are used in defence, telecom, electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy, consumer electronics, smartphones, drones, laptops, tablets, medical instruments, robots, automotive systems, industrial systems, ICT, and telecommunications and computing equipment.
The projects will meet 100% of domestic demand for Copper Clad Laminates, 20% for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), and 15% for Camera Modules. Additionally, 60% of the total production from these plants will be exported.
