onsemi has entered into an agreement with Aura Semiconductor to acquire its Vcore power technologies, including associated intellectual property licenses. The acquisition aims to strengthen onsemi’s power management portfolio, enabling the company to address the full power tree in AI data center applications, from grid to core.
Sudhir Gopalswamy, group president of onsemi’s Intelligent Sensing and Analog and Mixed-Signal Group, stated that the acquisition supports the company’s goal of addressing the energy and efficiency demands of AI data centers by providing a comprehensive set of power solutions. The integration of Vcore technologies is expected to enhance power density, efficiency, and thermal performance, allowing for increased compute capacity per rack.
With expertise in silicon and silicon carbide technologies, onsemi already provides solutions for solid-state transformers, power supply units, 800 VDC distribution, and core power delivery. This acquisition positions onsemi as one of the few companies capable of meeting the stringent power requirements of modern AI infrastructure with scalable designs.
