Nanusens Relocates HQ to Edinburgh, Appoints New Leadership to Advance MEMS Technology

Nanusens, a company specializing in MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) innovation, has relocated its headquarters to Edinburgh, UK, and appointed Ramon Borrell as Chairman and Núria Martí as CFO to support its ongoing development.

The company has developed a technology that creates MEMS structures within the layers of a CMOS chip using standard CMOS fabrication processes. This approach leverages the economies of scale of large CMOS fabs, reducing costs significantly. The resulting single-chip solutions integrate MEMS devices and control circuitry, achieving a 100x area reduction compared to traditional MEMS, with feature sizes of 0.3 microns or less versus one micron or larger for conventional MEMS.

Dr. Josep Montanyà, CEO of Nanusens, stated that the company is advancing its RF Digitally Tunable Capacitors (DTCs), which are expected to impact the mobile phone sector, particularly for 6G applications. The new leadership appointments aim to support this progress. Ramon Borrell, former CTO of Xaar, brings over 30 years of experience in MEMS inkjet printheads and applications, having worked at Xaar, HP, and Quantica, and served as a director in various listed and private companies. Núria Martí, with over 15 years of experience in fina...
